Sunday, Father's Day! The girls were all rested
and ready for the long day ahead. Everyone met at 8:45,
Southport was seeded in the #1 position. Our first game
at 9:30 am was against Addison. Weird, our 1st
game in the brackets would be our game that got rained
out the day before. All I can say is the girls were
ready to play! The final score for the game was 19 - 3.
Our second game would be the Semi-finals game against
Elmira Heights. The Heights were stronger and ready to
play, but in the end, our girls closed up the game with
a 14 - 5 win, advancing them into the Championship
Game.
Championship Game - Southport vs Horseheads Blue
- After the first inning when Horsheads scored 5 runs
and Southport had none, our girls re-grouped and rallied
back by the 3rd inning to tie it up 5-5. 4th inning both
sides were scoreless. Fifth inning the girls stopped
Horseheads from scoring but we were able to bring in 1
run making it 6-5. Final inning, top of the 6th,
Horseheads was able to get in a run to yet tie it up
again 6-6. Bottom of the 6th, two runners on base
(Second and Third) 1 out, Horseheads infield all
moved up to the hash marks, to stop the runner on third
from scoring. The ball was hit right over 3rd
base and our runner SCORED!!!!!!!!!
